Newcastle born and bred, I attended the Royal Grammar School after which I went up to Cambridge to study Medicine. I graduated with First Class Honours and was awarded both the Whitby and Pilley Scholarships. My medical training was completed at Addenbrookes’ Hospital and I qualified with Distinction in Surgery.

Thereafter, I undertook Surgical Training in East Anglia and the North East of England. I completed international trauma and arthroplasty fellowships at The Alfred Hospital In Melbourne and The Royal Perth Hospital in Australia.

I was appointed to County Durham & Darlington NHS Foundation Trust as Consultant Hip, Knee and Trauma Surgeon in 2007 and continue to base my NHS practice there. My special interests are complex hip and knee replacement, computer assisted surgery and revision joint replacement. I run a busy trauma practice for children and adults. I have a special interest in lower limb periprosthetic fracture management.
